ALL THAT YOU TOUCH
If it wasn’t for Electric Ladyland this would be my favorite ‘album’ ever. It breaks my heart that it’s not on Vinyl.
It is noisy, sad, brilliant and startling in its honesty.
I often think of it as poetry with noisy rock music behind it… is breathtaking.
It’s filled with love, dope, motorcycles, dope, guns, love and dope. It’s distressing. It is an open wound. It is beautiful.
I think he wanted to capture “Smokestack Lightning” and blend it with Sonic Youth. Or Pierre Reverdy with Skip James. Or I don’t know what… but it this album jumped right into my soul. And it’s stayed there like Jimi has. I’ll listen to Chris any album, any time, anywhere.
I spoke to him once for about 15 seconds. He seemed so uncomfortable being approached that I just let it go drifting away. I won’t tell you what I said, but it was important to me.
Someday Din Of Ecstasy will be pressed… somebody, please.
Next I’ll tell you about Dirt Floor… which is on Vinyl and I can’t get a copy.
